What aspects of your new job role are you most excited about?

Collaborating on innovative solutions to exceed our clients expectations. Working on new and emerging EV technologies and having an impact in the advancement of EV technology availability throughout the country.

 Could you share your background story of your career please?

After finishing University, I joined a company in the South West specialising in building services engineering. Majority of my design experience is on MOD property and included design of small power, lighting, security, distribution systems, switch rooms, generator back up, UPS installations in data centres, etc. This included refurbishments and new builds of all types including hazardous and explosive areas.

 What were you most excited about when starting SDE and what are your initial impressions?

Joining a fast-paced environment where no two projects are the same, whilst working in a professional and friendly environment.

 Are there any specific goals you wish to achieve at your time with SDE?

 I'd like to gain IEng status so our clients can have the piece of mind that we have experienced engineers with a focus on producing high quality designs. In addition to this, I'd like to build on this knowledge and experience and continue my professional development plan to gain CEng status in the future. 

 How do you envision contributing to the team and making a positive impact?

Expanding our offering to allow clients to have a one-stop-shop type of experience, where design and installation can be done by one company. Assist SDE Energy Solutions, SDE Electrical and external clients in electrical design duties, drawing production, and operation & maintenance information collation. 

 What skills do you bring to the team and will be valuable in your role?

Design of electrical systems and building services over various sectors from concept to technical design, including residential, commercial, industrial and defence. Communicating with equipment manufacturers and project managers to ensure the client's needs are satisfied and we're designing efficient electrical systems to minimise impact on the environment. Thorough knowledge of CAD and Microsoft Office, which will allow in assisting all parts of the business. 

 Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is crucial, could you share a bit about what you like to do in your free time?

I spend a lot of my free time outdoors in the Peak District or in mountainous areas. I'm also an instructor in the RAF Air Cadets and have been helping with the organisation for 12 years.

 Share a fun / interesting fact about yourself that your colleagues might not know?

 I like to go caving and mine exploring and have been 400m underground in an active cave
