Project Overview
SDE Group was appointed to refurbish the existing KIA dealership in Brentwood, delivering a full internal transformation in line with KIA’s latest brand identity. The project involved extensive demolition, redesign, and coordination across multiple trades to deliver a seamless, modern showroom experience.
Key Works Delivered
Interior Transformation:
All existing internal partitions separating the former Ford and KIA spaces were demolished to create a unified, spacious KIA dealership. This reconfiguration opened up the floorplate and allowed for a fluid customer journey throughout the showroom.
Flooring & Lighting Upgrade:
Existing floor tiles were removed and replaced with new, high-spec KIA tiles, complete with a striking red LED perimeter light strip which is a key brand design element. The ceiling was fully refurbished with new ceiling tiles throughout the main showroom.
Toilet Refurbishment:
The customer restrooms were modernised to reflect KIA’s updated brand guidelines, with upgraded fixtures, finishes, and layout for improved customer comfort and accessibility.
Furniture Coordination:
We worked closely with KIA’s internal furniture fit-out specialists to ensure all fixtures, fittings, and branded elements aligned perfectly with the new design standards.
SDE Electrical Division Involvement
SDE Electrical led the full electrical refurbishment, from design development through to installation and final commissioning. Working from the client's RIBA Stage 3 spatial coordination plan, our team progressed the project through technical design, manufacturing, and coordination to RIBA Stage 6 handover. The scope of Electrical Works included:
Containment & Wiring Adaptation:
Existing containment systems were reconfigured, and wiring adapted or replaced to suit the revised layout and new systems.
LED Lighting & Controls:
All showroom fluorescent lighting was replaced with high-efficiency LED fixtures featuring daylight sensors to optimise energy consumption and reduce operational costs.
Office Lighting Enhancements:
LED panels with PIR motion sensors were installed in office areas to maximise energy savings while maintaining excellent visual comfort for staff.
Power & Data Provision:
New floor boxes and socket outlets were strategically positioned to serve new desk layouts and car display areas, eliminating the need for trailing leads and ensuring a clean, functional environment.
Fire Alarm System Adaptation:
The existing fire alarm system was reconfigured to meet the updated floor layout and comply with current safety regulations.
The Brentwood KIA dealership now reflects the brand’s refreshed identity, modern, customer-focused, and technologically enhanced. The project stands as a testament to SDE Group’s ability to deliver complex, multi-disciplinary refurbishments on time and within budget. Through close coordination between our construction and electrical teams, the final result provides a comfortable, professional space for both customers and staff, perfectly aligned with KIA’s vision for its UK network.
