When it comes to the automotive experience in Aberdeen, TrustFord’s dealership has made impressive strides in offering not only a variety of vehicles but also an enhanced level of customer service. Our Marketing Executive, India and 3D Designer / Creative Lead, Charlotte, recently hopped on a plane, a very small plane, and headed to Aberdeen for the day. After starting their day at 3am, they eventually arrived at TrustFord Aberdeen, where they were taken on a tour to gain insights into how the dealership has optimised its new space for improved service since their official opening in July 2024. Guided by General Manager Mark Watson, they explored the dealership’s showroom, workshop, and sales offices to see firsthand the work that has been done by SDE Group to provide innovative storage solutions to maximise space and thoughtful interior design to allow a more seamless customer experience.
TrustFord’s New Era Begins with an Official Opening in July 2024
Having officially opened in July 2024, TrustFord Aberdeen’s new facility was designed to meet the growing needs of both customers and staff, ensuring that each part of the dealership works in harmony. From the bright, expansive showroom to the functional workshop areas, TrustFord’s facility offers a modern, inviting and comforting environment for all visitors. Mark Watson shared how, since the opening, they’ve been using the space in ways they hadn’t anticipated initially, particularly in the workshop.
The dealership’s continuous effort to adapt and innovate has been a significant factor in providing improved service. By remaining responsive to new needs and exploring efficient storage solutions, TrustFord Aberdeen is ensuring that both it’s team and customers benefit from a space that is optimised for ease, professionalism, and customer satisfaction.
The Impact of Thoughtful Interior Design on Customer and Staff Experience
The interior design of the TrustFord Aberdeen showroom plays a significant role in creating a positive atmosphere for customers and staff. Upon entering, visitors are welcomed by a stylish, spacious area that is both professional and friendly – a design approach that encourages a sense of trust and approachability. With a combination of sleek modern furnishings and warm lighting, the showroom fosters an environment that feels polished without being intimidating, replicating the brand identity of TrustFord.
Charlotte noted, “As an Interior Designer, I truly value the process of creating warm and inviting spaces. It goes beyond aesthetics; it’s about fostering an environment that engages and inspires people. A welcoming atmosphere can significantly enhance any commercial space, making it a place where both employees and customers feel appreciated and happy. Prioritising comfort and connection in our designs is essential. I believe TrustFord has successfully accomplished this in their national showroom refurbishments, especially in Aberdeen, where we completed renovations earlier this year.”
This attention to the improved service experience reflects a commitment to customer satisfaction at every level. Beyond simply showcasing vehicles, the layout of the showroom has been designed to encourage open communication and genuine connection between the team and customers. This approach reinforces TrustFord’s dedication to a customer-centric environment that is welcoming, efficient, and thoughtfully arranged.
Flexible Storage Solutions in the Workshop
One of the most notable aspects of TrustFord Aberdeen’s adaptation process has been in the workshop area. The spacious workshop, initially thought to be perfectly designed, quickly presented unique challenges that required a rethink in how storage and layout could be optimised for greater efficiency. As demand for services increased and the volume of work grew, it became clear that additional, more dynamic storage solutions were necessary to keep operations running smoothly.
As the team settled in, they found that their storage needs in the workshop were quite different to what they were use to previously. Like with moving into a new house, you have to find somewhere for all the furniture to go and the same goes for the workshop at TrustFord. Mark noted that the team have a range of specialist equipment that isn’t used every day but needs a place to live. This discovery highlighted the importance of flexibility in design and layout, especially in a high-functioning service area like TrustFord.
Jonathan Bennett, Managing Director at SDE Group, oversaw this entire project back when it initially began. We asked Jonathan what solution he would suggest solving the storage problem that TrustFord Aberdeen has recently come across. “Our goal is to ensure our clients are completely satisfied with their designs throughout the entire process and even after completion. Based on valuable feedback from Mark Watson, we can definitely enhance the functionality of certain areas in the workshop. One option is a floor-supported shelving system, which maximises space without the need for structural changes or heavy i-beams, as seen with a mezzanine. Alternatively, we could consider adding a mezzanine floor, allowing us to implement different shelving systems for storing specialised equipment that isn’t used daily. The bright, open layout of the workshop has one significant advantage for storage solutions – height, so let’s make the most of it!” By implementing versatile storage systems, the workshop team can access tools and parts more efficiently, significantly cutting down on time and improving the quality of service they provide.
These storage improvements would allow the workshop to handle a higher volume of work without compromising on quality. This optimisation has become essential to improve service delivery, as technicians can access everything they need quickly, reducing wait times and enhancing the overall experience for customers.
Commitment to Lasting Client Relationships
SDE Group’s role in the project was not just to complete the setup, but to ensure that the dealership continued to thrive in its new space long after opening day.
By maintaining a strong client relationship with TrustFord, the SDE team has been able to provide ongoing support and adapt solutions as the dealership’s needs have evolved. This type of collaboration is crucial in allowing the dealership to make effective adjustments to its workspace, ensuring that it remains both functional and flexible for years to come.
